Dear Sir or Madam,

Civil war has been raging in Sudan since April 2023. Both sides, the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia and the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), are committing war crimes, including extreme forms of sexual violence against women and girls. Amina, Batul and Hannah (names changed) are three women who survived sexual violence perpetrated by members of the RSF in three separate incidents in 2023 and 2024.

The three women are demanding medical treatment, protection from further violence, and justice. They are campaigning for the perpetrators of sexual violence to be held accountable. This includes crimes such as gang rape committed by groups of men against a woman or groups of women who have fled the war, the abduction and torture of women and girls, rape in front of children and partners of the women, and situations in which women are forced to choose between murder and rape.

As member / sympathizer of Amnesty International, I hereby urge you to ensure that the sexual violence and other crimes committed against Amina, Batul, Hannah, and others are promptly, thoroughly, and effectively investigated, and that the perpetrators and those responsible are held accountable. Please also ensure that those affected receive immediate medical care to treat the physical and psychological trauma they have suffered.
