Dear President Díaz Canel,

I am writing to express my concern about the case of Sayli Navarro Álvarez, who has been arbitrarily detained since 2021 and must urgently be released.

Sayli Navarro Álvarez is a co-founder of the Ladies in White (damas de blanco) movement, a group of mothers, wives, and daughters of the 75 people detained during the "Black Spring" in 2003. The group engages in peaceful acts of resistance against the repression of dissenting voices in Cuba. The activist was arrested and sentenced to 8 years in prison for actions related to the protests of July 2021. Sayli Navarro Álvarez is one of many people who have been put behind bars for peacefully criticising the government.

As member / sympathizer of Amnesty International, I urge you to ensure that Sayli Navarro Álvarez and all other prisoners of conscience are immediately and unconditionally released, as they are imprisoned solely for the peaceful exercise of their freedom of expression.
