Dear Prime Minister,

The ongoing repression against human rights defenders from EHRCO and other civil society organizations, as well as the planned amendments to the Civil Society Organizations (CSO) Act, threaten the civil society base in Ethiopia.

As member / sympathizer of Amnesty International, I therefore urge you to take action to ensure that
  1. the ongoing repression against human rights defenders, activists, civil society organizations, journalists, and others who are simply exercising their human rights peacefully is ended;
  2. the planned amendments to the CSO law, which would restrict civil society space and threaten the existence of EHRCO and other key civil society organizations, be abandoned;
  3. EHRCO and other civil society organizations will be involved in legal reform processes and decision-making on political issues.
